Distribution Design Engineer

Reporting to the Manager of Transmission and Distribution Engineering, you will be responsible for the duties of an Electrical Design Engineer specializing in the area of distribution design. This involves all engineering aspects from the concept development, project planning, pre-feasibility studies through to final feasibility, budget and work order preparation, cost estimates, construction management, design procurement, contract preparation, and inspection and testing of equipment and systems.
You will be responsible for identifying, developing and the maintaining of distribution design standards, inspection methods and standard procedures for efficient and effective design. You will provide engineering support for grounding, electrical clearance, line layout and insulation design and analysis for capital project work as well as operations and maintenance. You will provide technical review and approval for materials and equipment to be purchased for inventory.
You are responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the company's Safety and Health Program and responsible for any environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner.
You have graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and are a registered member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) with a minimum of five years of engineering experience in transmission and distribution design. Previous experience in power utility electrical design, project management, construction, administration, operation and maintenance would be an asset. You must exhibit the capability to effectively assess situations, formulate and execute solutions; easily build working relationships; be a competent team member; have proficient written and oral communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills. You must possess a valid driver license.
